Where The Wild Things Are opens nationwide this weekend with a lot of pre-screenings happening around the world and I wanted to have a place where you could come and discuss the movie.

If You’ve Seen It

If you have already seen the film, then talk about what you thought. Was it everything it’s being made out to be? Did it stick to the children’s book well? Was Spike Jonze able to bring to the screen the kind of magical imagination that the book evokes? And please, if you want to discuss anything that could be considered a spoiler, add SPOILER ALERT before your comment.

If You Haven’t Seen It

Are you excited to see the movie? What about it draws you to the theater? Did you ever read the book? Do you think Spike Jonze will be able to pull it off? What other children’s book do you want to see made into a movie? When are you planning on seeing the film?

I am super excited to see WTWTA (if you’re cool, you abbreviate it). I have never read the book but everything I have seen from the film and from Spike Jonze, I have loved. Even the trailers do a remarkable job of stimulating the kid inside of me who longs to escape the 9-5 work world and just run through the forest pretending I am living with monsters. My wife and I are planning our next date night around seeing this movie. I hope you’ll be able to join us.

Must See: Second Where The Wild Things Are Trailer

Today is a good day.

Today is Friday.

Today is the beginning of the weekend.

Today is the day Warner Bros. releases the second full-length theatrical trailer for Spike Jonze’s upcoming adaptation of the beloved children’s book of the same name, “Where The Wild Things Are.” It has been said by many that this movie stole the show at Comic Con and left audiences in tears in some cases. I don’t know if it’s the imagery, the soundtrack, the history of the production, the awesomeness of Spike Jonze, or the memories that are conjured up imagining yourself as a kid reading this book, but whatever it is, the bottom line is this: this movie looks breathtaking.

Where The Wild Things Are Teaser Trailer

Yesterday we brought you the first images from Spike Jonze’s Where The Wild Things Are, his adaptation of the classic children’s book, and today we bring you the first teaser trailer released to the public.

This has a really awesome, weird, indie, imaginative, creepy, “Labyrinth”, “The Neverending Story” feel to it. The effects appear to be seamlessly integrated with the live action actors and puppets. The anticipation for this movie for myself is rising considerably, despite all of its production woes that’s been clouding it. Even the music over the top of the trailer adds to the magic of the kids world. I am loving the feel of this movie from the trailer.

Discussion: Has your excitement risen now that you’ve seen how it’s going to look on screen? Does this look like it has stayed true to the book?

First Photos from Where The Wild Things Are

There hasn’t been much released in the way of official material for Spike Jonze’s upcoming adaptation of the classic 1963 children’s book “Where The Wild Things Are” and it’s only added more mystique to an already highly anticipated movie set to debut in October of this year.

USA Today sat down with director Spike Jonze and wanted to talk about his vision and how he was able to fully capture the magic behind the beloved children’s book.

“As a kid, I just connected to it. I wanted to hear it over and over,” he says of the 1963 tale of Max, an angry boy who escapes to a mythical land of untamed giant beasts. “It’s like trying to explain why you love somebody. To me, the Wild Things are both cuddly and dangerous. I wanted to climb atop of them like Max.”

With the trailer set to debut sometime this week, we finally have some images, courtesy of USA Today, to check out how the movie will look.

“I never thought of it as a children’s movie,” he says. “My intention was to be true to how it felt to be 9 years old. Maurice’s whole thing is to be honest. You can say anything to kids as long as you are respectful and not pandering.”
