I haven’t written anything about this remake because frankly I didn’t know how good it would be. There just are so many remakes coming out nowadays that it’s too hard to try and keep up. The original Clash of the Titans was made in 1981 and starred Harry Hamlin, Maggie Smith, Lawrence Olivier, and Jack Gwillim in a film adaption of the myth of Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster to save the Princess Andromeda.
I remember seeing this movie as a kid and falling in love with the simple but effective special effects of the Kraken and Medusa and even the golden owl…but this is not your mother’s Clash of the Titans! This is a Clash of the Titans film in the era of 300, Gladiator, Lord of the Rings, and Braveheart with fast action, rock music anthems, and sweeping CGI.
What do you think of the new remake? Is it ok that it’s a completely modernized version?
We’ve seen images of Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes, Jude Law as Watson, Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler, and even a poster for the film, but now, Warner Bros. Pictures and Guy Ritchie have finally released to us the first teaser trailer for Sherlock Holmes.
I love how this movie is turning out. The action looks amazing and the trailer gives the film a more “Pirates of the Caribbean” feel with the comedy intertwining between the all out action and drama. I heard first reports from footage screened at ShoWest that it was more of a buddy comedy with Holmes and Watson, but it looks to me from the trailer, that they have included more drama and intense action and maybe lessened the comedy. I don’t know for sure, but it’s what I can gather from the trailer.
Discussion: Does this trailer increase your expectation of this Christmas Day film? Are you excited about this movie?
