If you are a regular reader here at Truth On Cinema then I am sure you have come to know and expect a summer movie preview around this time. You can typically count on there being a huge popular post dedicated to all of the big summer movies that come out. I work hard every year to put together this lengthy post with all of the information I can gather from films that I think are going to blow your summer away….but, for the first time in two years, I am not going to do a Summer Movie Preview. Want to know why, then click on through…
Christopher Nolan has all of the movie world collectively scratching our heads ever since he debuted the enigmatic teaser trailer for his next film, Inception. The trailers don’t do much in helping us figure out the film and what it’s going to be.
Is it a love story? Is it a corporate espionage thriller? A mind-bender like Memento? The answer is “all of the above,” according to Nolan himself. Whatever it becomes, Mr. Nolan, you have our attention.
From the Hero Complex blog we have learned that Nolan considers this film to be his biggest yet. And he goes as far to say that it’s even bigger than the monumental Dark Knight.
“This is the biggest challenge I’ve taken on to this point,” said Nolan, “We’re trying to tell a story on a massive scale, a true blockbuster scale – the biggest I’ve ever been involved with. We tried to make a very large-scale film with ‘The Dark Knight’ and with this one we wanted to push that even further.”
What influences a director like Nolan to create the rich and multi-level films that he does?
“I grew up watching James Bond films and loving those and watching spy movies with their globetrotting sensibility…. We get to do that here, not just geographically but also in time and dimensions of reality as well. We get to make a movie that’s expansive, I suppose you’d say, in four dimensions.”
Did you catch that? 4 dimensions?! What does that even mean? The only thing certain at this point is that this will be one of the most anticipated films of 2010.
What do you think? Will Inception make your 2010 Must See list?
Christopher Nolan has to be considered one of the best directors in the last decade, and if not, he has to be at least in the conversation of being one of the most exciting directors to come around. Going all the way back to the greatness of Memento and the mystique of The Prestige Nolan knows how to play with your minds and create visual and memorable mind puzzles with his films.
His next film before he begins to tackle the 3rd Batman film will be the mind-bender Inception and we had our first taste back in August of what it might be like, which we really weren’t able to discern due to the extreme “teaser-ness” of the first trailer, but NOW, we have our second trailer to help us figure out the cinematic puzzle. After watching it, unfortunately, I am still lost. I know we get to see more of Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page and the city folding in on itself, but beyond that, it’s still an absolute mystery to me.
Back in August we reported about Christopher Nolan’s next mysterious film called Inception with a very teaseriffic trailer and now we have our very first poster.
In case you don’t remember anything about the film, our friends over at Slashfilm (who broke news of the poster first) have this to say about it:
The film’s logline is “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.” The rumored plot claims “Inception is about entering peoples’ minds/dreams. A technology to do so has been developed and is done through an injection. DiCaprio and his team work to enter the minds of other characters in order to retrieve/plant information.”
Check out the poster and let us know what you think.
Next summer’s movie line-up just got a swift kick in the pants! We all know that a third Batman film is coming down the line and we all sort of know that Christopher Nolan is going to direct it, but before we even start talking about that, Nolan is making a psychological thriller called “Inception.” The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page in what is being described as a thriller set within the architecture of the mind about a CEO who is involved in a blackmailing scandal. Nothing has come out about this movie so far and although we’ve seen a few set pictures, Nolan has kept us in the dark…until now! Warner Bros. released yesterday the first teaser trailer for Nolan’s film and it absolutely delivers a classic tease. The trailer is just under a minute long (not counting credits and the title) and we derive nothing new from it other than it looks amazing!
What did you think of the trailer? Are you excited for this film?
