There’s been so much movie news that’s come out over the weekend that I needed an entire post devoted to it so you could stay informed.

Adventures in Babysitting Sequel
-Miley Cyrus is set to play the lead role in the project, entitled “Further Adventures in Babysitting,” and the good news is that the project is seen more as a sequel than a remake. I really thought the original 80′s movie was great for its time, and am glad to see that they aren’t trying to remake it, which was the original idea.

Will Smith’s Upcoming Sequels
-Smith confirmed to Collider about the I Am Legend prequel saying “We have a fantastic prequel idea…we’re still trying to work through a couple of bumps in the story. It’s essentially the fall of the last city – the last stand of Manhattan. The movie would be…within the body of the movie D.C. and then Manhattan would fall as the last city.”
-He also confirmed to JoBlo that the Hancock sequel is definitely happening but didn’t speak on any details or dates as of yet.

Aliens 5 Rumor
-Sigourney Weaver talked with MTV and revealed that Aliens 5 with the original director and creator Ridley Scott isn’t out of the question. In speaking about a possible story, she said, “We’d have to go back to the drawing board on the alien. Ridley said that right away when we first talked about a fifth film. What we’re interested in is taking the character of Ripley and seeing what other science fiction story we can tell about someone who has lived several lives.”

Spielberg Updates
-With the passing of Michael Crichton, Steven Spielberg’s long-time producing partner Kathleen Kennedy says that she thinks his death was a sign not to mess with the Jurassic Park story anymore. So, there will be no Jurassic Park 4.
-Spielberg’s Lincoln will begin shooting in the spring and Liam Neeson is still attached to play the lead.

Twilight Director Off Sequel
-Even with the surprisingly strong box office numbers of Twilight it wasn’t enough to keep director Catherine Hardwicke attached to the next sequel New Moon. Summit Entertainment is calling it a move of timing – they are aggressively wanting to get the next movie out by late 2009/early 2010 – and that doesn’t work with Hardwicke’s style of directing and how much prep time she needs to deliver her vision. This is huge news for the Twilight world and I am looking forward to seeing who they get to replace her.

Fourth Bourne Story Details
-Thanks to Universal’s recent first look deal for late author Robert Ludlum’s oeuvre, the next Bourne movie may be going back to the books for its storyline. Producer Frank Marshall said, “We now have access to all the Ludlum story ideas. We’re going to make the fourth movie from them…” According to Marshall it will be the non-Bourne thriller “The Parsifal Mosiac” that will likely serve as the main thrust of a fourth film’s story.

Movie News (10/17/2008): I reported back in February about the possibility of a 4th Bourne movie, and it looks like the rumors were and are true. The 4th installment of the very successful Bourne series has finally secured its writer, and it’s none other than George Nolfi, who was co-writer of the third film.

Discussion: This time around, the story will not be based on the books, but from an original story. Matt Damon will return as well as Paul Greengrass (director), but does it worry you that it’s not from the books? Personally, I am a little sceptical about this 4th movie. In my opinion, the Bourne movies have been one of the most complete action trilogies we’ve had since LOTR and Indiana Jones, and the 4th Indiana movie didn’t do so well. So, how well will this one do?

Movie Rumors (2/26/08): An article at Variety detailing what’s going on with Universal Pictures has dropped some interesting facts about the supposed “dead” Bourne franchise.
