I don’t get a chance, being the Editor-In-Chief of Truth On Cinema, to see every movie that comes out, so sometimes I have to send my *local* correspondents to check it out for me by way of FREE Advanced Screening Passes, and in turn they are to give me a Quick-Hit Review of what they thought about the film. In this instance my Mid-Cities Truth On Cinema Correspondent Troy, had a chance to see The Losers before it debuts this weekend and this is what he had to say about it.

The Losers isn’t a loser!

Here are couple of my first thoughts on The Losers that I posted on Facebook to friends.

  • “Movie was good! Very good action movie with a great comic book feel to it! Makes me want to find the comics and read”
  • “Movie was great! It was very enjoyable and entertaining. I liked the comic book feel of it, and it didn’t take itself too serious… it knew it was based on a comic book and went with it.”
  • “It was great! Great action, very “comic-booky.” I really enjoyed it I recommend it. No nudity, some language, but not bad and one sensual scene and lots of explosions and bullets”
  • “It was good enough I would see it again.”

Quick synopsis of the movie: A team of CIA special ops are betrayed by ‘Max’ and intended to be killed in their last mission. They are given a chance to get back into the ‘game’ and get revenge on Max. The movie revolves around the Losers getting back and trying to kill Max.

The character development was good. There was a chemistry between the characters, as if they had been working in special forces for a long time together (which is what was portrayed). You have Clay – the leader, Roque – the demolitions guy, Cougar – the sniper, Pooch – the driver, and Jensen – the communications/hacker guy. Jensen’s character was my favorite, he was hilarious and brought a comical aspect to the team, always saying the wrong things at the wrong times. There was even a nice twist, which surprised me.

Although the action scenes were totally unrealistic, they were pulled of in such a way that you weren’t concerned with the impossibility of them. The language wasn’t over the top. There was no nudity and with the exception of one sensual scene, (which really didn’t advance the plot at all) it was a clean movie.
