Every so often I watch movies that don’t really interest me nor do I have a lot to say about them, and yet, I’d still like to keep you informed about them. So, every once in a while I am going to be posting a Mini-Review Roundup which will contain a handful of movies that didn’t necessitate an entire post whether it was because I couldn’t even finish it, it was just “eh” to me, or I can’t bring myself to write more than a paragraph about it.

Rescue Dawn
Christian Bale, Steve Zahn
I know I may get a lot of criticism about this movie, but I’m sorry, I turned it off after about 30 minutes. It never captured my attention, it was super slow, and Christian Bale sounded awful as he was trying way too hard to be some Captain American Super Patriot guy. I had high hopes for this one and was seriously underwhelmed, and I know, I didn’t finish it and if you can convince me otherwise, maybe I’ll give it another try. It seemed like the movie wasn’t even taking itself seriously at all, like it was this true heroic story that the actors were just “ho-humming” through. There were times in the film, well, in the first 30 minutes of the film, that there wasn’t any sound. Either Bale was running through the forest and you couldn’t really hear his breath or the rustle of the trees, nothing. It was an awkward feeling that really turned me off. I don’t know what else to say other than, if you’ve seen it and know that I will like it, leave me some proof via the comments. I WANTED to like this movie. This won’t go down, in my opinion, as one of Christian Bale’s best.

In The Land of Women
Adam Brody, Meg Ryan, Kristen Stewart
Being married affords me opportunities to watch romantic movies that I probably wouldn’t watch on my own accord. This being one of them. Truth is, I really liked this movie a lot. The title, at first, was very unattractive as we sat down to watch this movie, I mean, come on, In The Land of Women?! I had pictures of tea parties and bitter ladies sitting around bashing men, which I know is very stereotypical of me. This movie stars Meg Ryan, Adam Brody, and newcomer Kristen Stewart (who, in a few months, will be playing one of the most-talked-about characters in girls’ ages 13-18 lives, Bella, from Twilight) in this creepy, quirky, heartfelt drama about friendship, forgiveness and the chemistry that can exist between man and woman without the pressures of romance. I have become a new fan of Adam Brody. I will be watching his career…and learning how to style my hair like his. This is worth watching again.

Well, I hoped you enjoyed the first Mini-Review Roundup. If you’ve seen any movies recently and would like to post a little review for us all, this is the place to do it. Just leave a comment with your mini-review and it will be posted for us all to discuss and argue about.
