It was reported last week that Gavin Hood, the director of X-Men Origins:Wolverine, and the rest of the crew were going back to do some extensive reshoots of the film. This typically isn’t the greatest news as it usually means something didn’t look right when they were editing, the story didn’t flow together well, there might have been some creative differences between the cast and the director that needed to be corrected, or a number of other things.
Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman, through an email to AICN, explained why they went back for reshoots and to assuage the fans, he also sent along a new photo of some of the superheros that we may recognize.
About the reshoots…
Hey everyone! It’s Hugh Jackman, sending this note from freezing Vancouver. I have read a lot of your online comments regarding the footage that we are currently shooting and I share your passion for the Wolverine character and the movie – I owe it all to you guys!
I wanted to reach out and let you know that due to scheduling conflicts with certain cast members and location/weather considerations, we had to wait until now to shoot a couple of scenes. Please rest assured that WOLVERINE will be badass and hopefully meet all of your expectations. I am stoked by the positive response to the teaser, which clearly reflects the tone and scope of the film. If you like that, we’ve got much more in store!

I’m cool with Liev Schreiber being Sabretooth, the one that tripped me up was when I first saw the picture I thought the guy playing Gambit was a girl! Then I read the caption and was like mmm ok… I don’t think he looks like Gambit.
I do like Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool though. And I wonder how far they’ll go with the makeup for his disfigurement?
I’m really looking forward to this movie.

Scotto, you don’t necessarily need to know anything about Comic books. I think the X-Men franchise in general has done a fairly decent job of standing on its own and allowing those who aren’t Comic book geeks to enjoy the film and understand what’s going on. I like it that they don’t rely too heavily on the comics yet have enough included in the material, a lot of it hidden and subtle, that the hardcore and even softcore comic book geeks will appreciate.
