Walden Media has announced the release of the next installment of the Chronicles of Narnia franchise. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader will be set sail on Dec. 10, 2010 without director Andrew Adamson at the helm. Replacing him is director Michael Apted whose last major film to crack the American market was 1999s James Bond installment: The World is Not Enough. Also missing from the film will be the two oldest Pevensie children, Peter and Susan, in keeping with the original story.
The first Narnia film brought in $291.7 million while its sequel only earned $141.2 million, so this one should tell the tale on whether the franchise will continue.
I’m excited about this film as it is my favorite book in the series. However, with directorial changes and cast members leaving it could fail to live up to expectation. Is anyone else into this series? Parents, do your kids like these films?
