For over a year now, a potential A-Team movie has been rumored to be in the makes, going as far as having Shaft director John Singleton attached, but it’s always been looked at as just a rumor. Something the fans of the 80′s TV show just hoped for desperately.
Well, it now looks to be a fully fledged movie that Fox is looking to release in the summer of 2010. They have canned Singleton and hired Smokin’ Aces helmer Joe Carnahan to direct and the Scott brothers (Ridley and Tony) to produce. Their production company Scott Free will handle the production side of things. The script they will be working from was written by Skip Woods, and so far, no one has been cast, but Michael Clarke Duncan has been rumored to have been offered the part of B.A Barracus.
I didn’t see Smokin’ Aces but heard from many people that it was a let down, so I don’t know how to judge whether or not Joe is going to be a good director. I cringe at the fact that they are trying to make this prized TV show into a movie in the first place, but I guess I’ve heard of worse things. (Ghost Rider 2 perhaps?)
As far as casting goes, Michael Clarke sounds like a good choice, though, there is no one who is going to be able to replace Mr. T.
I think a cast I would like to see would consist of:
Capt. Hannibal Smith – Mel Gibson or Bruce Willis
Templeton “Face” Peck - Brad Pitt or George Clooney
H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock – Jim Carrey or Steve Carell or Edward Norton
B.A. – Michael Clarke Duncan or Ving Rhames
What would be your best casting of this movie?

I dont know HOW IN THE WORLD you can take this classic and make it a movie. Seriously…somethings are better LEFT ALONE!
But if they want to give it a go…more power to ya…but I am not looking for gold in this movie.
Dan – your “Dream Team” of actors…isnt that too many egos on one set???

Yeah, but I am not saying I want all of them at the same time, hence the “or’s.” Did you remember the old show? There were egos abound in that show. With Face, Murdock, B.A. all vying for leadership against Hannibal…it makes for the perfect scenario in this day and age with the plethora of egos.
What’s your Dream Team Scotto?

I am starting to feel about this movie like I am about the GI Joe movie coming this year…jury is WAY OUT on this. Not sure how to feel or what to think. But if early indicators are true, leave the classic alone!
