Over the holidays, Entertainment Weekly released some never-before-seen photos from some of the most anticipated movies of 2009. From left to right, we have a new shot of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in X-Men Origins:Wolverine, Pixar’s next animated adventure Up, a new shot of Harry and Ginny from Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (one of my most anticipated films of 2009), a shot of The Comedian from the much anticipated Watchmen film, and finally we have 2 new shots of Christian Bale as John Connor in Terminator Salvation and Johnny Depp as John Dilinger in Michael Mann’s upcoming action thriller Public Enemies.

You can check out the full gallery here which include many more films that didn’t quite make the ToC cut. Though, with one exception, Spike Jonze’s upcoming film Where The Wild Things Are, that one is very interesting to me, and one that I can’t wait to see. The photos aren’t amazing nor do they blow me away, but it’s nice to have some images to start out 2009 with…especially from films I am really looking forward to seeing.

What do you think?

  • Man, this gets me pumped about the upcoming year for movies! Cannot wait to debate, discuss, even disagree on what is good and what is not so good this coming year!

I completely agree that the new Harry Potter movie is my most anticipated movie!!! Thanks for the pictures!

you might want to check the title of one of those movies listed up there.

    hint: it isn’t correct.

  • I didn’t really know that Harry Potter was one of your most anticipate movies…. I kept waiting for a review of all the movies that someone was supposed to have done, but I still haven’t seen it.

And johnny thunders beat me to the punch on you needing to correct something. You need to WATCH out MEN for what is WANTED in your lives…. (ok so that was not real subtle but no overtly pointing it out)

Thanks a lot for the catch guys. I shouldn’t write posts in the middle of the day on Sunday, not a good day for my brain.

Troy, I got into the Harry Potter books this past summer and was going to wait until I saw them all before posting a humongous review, but I’m thinking I need to scratch that idea and start with a Review A Week up until the release of this latest one…almost like a countdown of sorts. What do you think about that?

    • I like that idea… here’s another to expand on it. I know this is truth on ‘CINEMA’ but maybe you could do a review on the books first then a review on the movies then review the final movie and finally end with a commentary on the differences, similarities, etc between the two media types. And there you have something like 14 weeks of content :D

Troy, that idea isn’t too far out to what I really want to do with Harry Potter and ToC…thanks for the killer idea, I’ll get back with you and everyone else once I figure out the best way to tackle both media’s.

Maybe a TruthOnBooks.com is in the future…who knows?

      just a question…

did you get involved in harry potter because of vivian? i was having a discussion with a friend the other day about the fact that we don’t know any guys who got involved with harry potter on their own, they only saw the movies because a girl talked them into it.

    • I’m a guy and got into HP without the help of a girl. I’m an avid fantasy reader and they were in the fantasy section before they were in the young adults section. And although I haven’t read the books, I knew about them before the movies came out and that perked my curiosity to the point of wanting to go see them.

    • Dan

We both decided to read the books together. It wasn’t really either of our ideas, we just decided to do it.

    • johnny thunders

well, being an avid fantasy fan kinda negates all this anyway.

i was talking about real men.

  • Vivian

Cool idea! It would be very verbose considering that some of the books are like 800 pages! There were definitely some moments in the movies that I thought “Hey, why did they mess with that- it was so much better in the book!”. Stuff like that would be good to mention.

  • Dan

So, real men can’t be fans of fantasy?

    • Not sure what’s “unmanly” about fantasy. I mean you have swords, crossbows, and other means of killing and mayhem all throughout, scary creatures, dragons, and battles of epic scale. Sounds manly to me. But I’m a bit biased.
