Well comic book fans, the creative team has been assembled for the Captain America movie. The writing duo behind the Chronicles of Narnia movies’, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, will be penning the screenplay and the director picked to helm this giant movie is none other than Joe Johnston, of Jurassic Park III, Jumanji, and October Sky.
WHAT?! The guys behind the family-friendly Narnia movies and the obscure director of should-have-been-straight-to-DVD Jurassic Park III are making this movie?!? Without reading too much into it, what do you guys think? I am not initially excited about this news as the Captain America movie needs to be darker than the Narnia movies, I mean, it’s taken place in the WWII era….but when I heard Jon Favreau was the director of Iron Man I wasn’t initially excited either. So, what do you think?

ok, don’t mean to burst your bubble here, but C.S. Lewis, not Marc McFeely or whoever from Gray’s Anatomy, wrote The Chronicles of Narnia. They, in fact, begin in the WWII era and if you’ll be surprised to find that on the Prince Caspian DVD there is a deleted scene where you can see Captain America helping Peter win his fight with the bullies at the train station – no joke. It’s real short, though. Blink and you’ll miss it.
[Note: All of the above is nothing more than whimsical farce.]
I think writers that have experience with adapting enduring work without offending loyalists might be able to do justice to the Captain.

Ryan, I laughed out loud reading that one. Did you also know that in a deleted scene on the Grey’s Anatomy Season 1 DVD, King Peter comes in with appendicitis and Edward Norton gets so mad that no one is helping him that he turns into The Hulk and destroys the hospital….seriously.
I just don’t want a kid friendly Captain America.

I think that Captain America will be the end of Superhero movies for a while. There have been a lot of movies coming out about superheros and I that with the additional installments of IronMan, these kinds of movies will lose their luster and thus their popularity.
I think that Hollywood gets in a groove…and drives it until it dies and this might be the movie that ends the lovefest with superheroes for a while.

I agree with you Scotto. I forsee a knew round of vampire and werewolf movies because of the Twilight movies. Maybe we can even expect a remake of the classic Teen Wolf! haha

Seriously, don’t tease about a Teen Wolf remake. That would be wicked. I’m all over it.

A Teen wolf remake if done right could be fun!!!
And Scotto since you mentioned ‘Lost Boys’ have you seen the trailer for Lost Boys: The Tribe? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1031254/
And yes it has Cory Feldman in it too!!! And of course it was a straight to video release… need I say more?

In their day, Michael J. Fox and Jason Bateman (Teen Wolf, Too) were supreme teen heart throbs. This fact, coupled with my heart’s need for film continuity leads me to suggest… wait for it… Teen Wolf Three. Featuring… The Jonas Brothers. With Michael J. Fox as the dad. It would be great. They play music, but no one likes them, they want to get into a battle of the bands (BTTF homage?) They become werewolf and everyone loves their music. Someone get me a director on the phone! This is money.
By the way, Jason Bateman has always been and will always be awesome!
Did I ever tell you that I met the dad from Teen Wolf when I was working at Starbucks in Southlake. Didn’t recognize him at first, but knew that I knew the voice (this is like 20 years after the movie). My boss and I were like “who is that guy?” Boss walks by 3 minutes later and whispers “Dad from Teen Wolf.” Golden. True story.

I heard that they were making a movie. I watched “Two Coreys” on TV for a while, but it got old…just like the two Coreys! One of the shows was trying to get one Corey to get the other Corey on board with making the movie. It was a hilariously bad episode!
But yes, I did hear that they were making a movie.

Ryan, dude, if it’s not Whataburger it’s the Dad from Teen Wolf!!! You are a regular star-spotter in this thriving metroplex.
And yes, Jason Bateman is and will always be greatness. Do I even have to ask if you are a fan of Arrested Development? That’s pure genius…and in fact, they are moving forward with a movie adaptation based on the show.
Corey’s need to pack it in and focus on families and getting jobs selling real estate or something.

Arrested. Indeed I am a fan. I was watching Season 1 yesterday. Not sure how I feel about them making a movie of it.
That said, I watched the Simpsons movie this week and thought that it was well done, so maybe they can take another Fox show and turn into a good 85 minute feature.

Here’s a thought…
Best Jason Bateman performance: Announcer in Dodgeball.

That’s a good discussion point: What’s Jason Bateman’s best performance?
I liked him in Hancock a lot, I thought he was the perfect cast for his character. I actually forgot he was in Dodgeball.

Jason Bateman as Edison in Necessary Roughness.
Well okay…not that great of a movie…but when you are a kid and love football…it was good enough!

Man, I remember that movie, it was great! That’s one of those classic football movies that you can forget easily.
Scott Bakula as the QB was the highlight of my young 90′s childhood.

and I must admit I had a crush on Kathy Ireland… and she played football! Classic in the making!
