As I said in my Top 24 Most Anticipated Films of 2010 about the film The American, if you give me George Clooney as an aging assassin with one more job to do, I’m in!
So the story doesn’t sound all that original, an aging assassin has one more job to do until he “quits the business” but then falls in love with a woman he either has to kill or who is somehow involved in his last “job”, but the aesthetic style of the film looks to be its saving grace. I am a big fan of Clooney’s work with slow-burning films and although I am new to the party of Anton Corbijn, this looks like a really cool film.

Personally, I can’t think of a role that Clooney performed poorly. I am a big fan of his films. This assassin role is a bit out of character when taking into account previous roles, but his versatility is quite impressive. Clooney is truly an actor of impeccable skill and I have little doubt that his role in this film will be executed perfectly.
