I know I am prone to over-reacting on a lot of trailers and “first look images” from films that are coming out way into the future, but this is NOT one of those times. I am legitimately and absolutely excited about this film that will debut in theaters on August 13, 2010.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is a comic book series written by Bryan Lee O’Malley and is about 23-year-old Canadian Scott Pilgrim (played magically by Michael Cera), a slacker, hero, and part-time bassist who is living in Toronto and plays bass guitar in the band “Sex Bob-Omb.” He falls in love with American delivery girl Ramona V. Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), but must defeat her seven “evil exes” in order to date her.
In my daily movie browsing, I’ve been following this film for a while, basically since it was announced, but never really knew what to expect from it. I knew nothing of the original comic book series and really had grown a little tired of Michael Cera’s act. After seeing this trailer, I couldn’t have been WAY more off base!
Directed by the brilliant Shaun of the Dead British filmmaker Edgar Wright, Scott Pilgrim looks like an absolutely amazing ride. I can’t wait to see this movie this summer.
What do you think of it? What’s your favorite moment of the trailer?

I generally tend to dismiss this sort of films and Michael Cera is surely not one of my favourites, but after seeing this trailer, I’m definitely going to reconsider. It seems a pretty engaging movie. Thanks for posting it.

Joanna, I think I dismissed it early on but after seeing this trailer, I am totally turned around on it. Michael Cera typically doesn’t do it for me as his “type-cast” has grown old to me, but it’ll be the action scenes that show me if he’s a legitimate actor or just another actor-slacker.

ok I admit, I want to see this. It looks like they capture the ‘style’ of a comic book in a movie… very cool!

This looks like exactly the kind of film that is good either because it knows that it’s ridiculous or because you and your friends can point out how ridiculous it is as you watch. I love the look and feel they’re going for. Can’t wait to see it. (Also, I agree with you on Michael Cera).
