I am an avid Lost watcher who loves the show but...gets so frustrated over some o them because of the reasons the other readers have stressed. My husband stopped watching the show due to the confusion on events, plots, customers etc. I am also worried that the ending will leave me hanging on some of the story lines kinda like Sopranos..I will have to really be sold to see the earthquake movie by him..at least at prime time rates.

I thought Cloverfield was a good rental movie. I liked the way it didn't put all the attention on the monster like Dan said.

I completely agree with Ryan on Alias. First two seasons? Fantastic. After that it was like a trainwreck I couldn't stop watching but it was destructive. Then the last season was one of the better ones, but I'm glad it's over. I also hope that Lost doesn't end up the same way.

As far as Earthquake? Depends on who's in it if I'll watch it or not.

Well,
Since you asked...
It's hard for me to really pinpoint problems without being full of spoilers.
I thought that Alias was great for the first two seasons (which I actually bought, sight unseen, and watched straight through).
It seems to me that he writes himself into a corner and does one of two things (or sometimes both): 1) he just drops the storyline and starts over, or 2) he inserts some new character(s) out of nowhere.
This is why I worry about Lost. I'm afraid that it will end without really resolving or will have a completely obnoxious "answer."
(Case in point of Abramsism: MI:3 they argue all day long about the "Rabbit's Foot." They never explain what it is and why anyone wants it, then it just evaporates - no one mentions it or cares any more.)
If you want detailed Alias spoilers I can point to way more problems with his work.

Scotto, it's a renter in my opinion. I saw it the day it came out and then saw it the day after, and both times I enjoyed it. It's not going to wow you with it's complex and intriguing story, but the suspense and viral marketing campaign that preceded the movie made it all the better.

No, no, I love rants, that's what makes this site unique. I am going to add Alias to my Netflix queue, maybe just a season or something, just so I can get a taste of it.

Ryan, what specifically about his work bothers you so much? His inability to provide any closure to a series, his writing style, the projects he is a part of?

I mean to say that I heard Cloverfield was decent. Anyone think it's a renter?

Surely I don't even need to voice my opinion.
Does Abrams get swallowed in the Earthquake?
Oh wait, maybe the Earthquake has a long lost cousin that will resurface in the 3rd Act even though he's been missing for 4 years and never before mentioned in the movie.
Sorry for ranting. Hope I'm not killing the vibe.
