I don’t know if you ever saw Inside Man, but it came out in 2006, and it was one of the better bank heist movies I had seen in a long time. I just love heist movies that are smart and that are well planned out. There’s just something intriguing about those movies to me.

It was directed by Spike Lee and it starred Clive Owen as the criminal mastermind, Denzel Washington as the fatigued and weary NYPD cop (which is a character he plays in every one of his films), and Jodie Foster as a “ballsy” and unscrupulous businesswoman.

For over a year now a sequel has been rumored with original screenwriter Russell Gerwitz’s script, that involved Owen in a New York diamond district heist, but we now learn from an interview Spike Lee did with MTV that Gerwitz’s script has been ditched and Hotel Rawanda writer Terry George has taken over scripting duties.

The good news is that all of the original cast will be coming back and that we should see a movie around fall of next year.

From the interview with MTV Lee says:

“If the script is up to snuff, we’ll be shooting it. Here’s the thing: if everything lines up—people’s schedules are open, [we’ll begin in] late summer, early Fall.”
