I was intrigued by the idea of the back story, yes, but not at the expense of the quality that Lucas put forth.

Interest and intrigue isn’t enough for me to like a movie or completely dismiss its obvious flaws and quality…but, that’s just me.

Yeah I liked them. You’re telling me that you didnt like finding out how Vader was Luke’s father? Come on now. The movies themselves will always have flaws, but overall the concept of learning how the characters get their start…it is good. The movie might lack a little, but it doesnt always make for an overall bad movie.

And like Terminator this summer, it will be fun to see the beginning of the end! But back to X-Men…

I am not a comics guy. I have read a few in my lifetime, but not enough to classify myself as a true reader. So from that sense, just out of shear curiosity…I am all over these movies. It’s fun to see how the characters got their start.

After reading some of the comments, personally, I think with very movie you take a risk whether its good or bad. Some movies we’ll agree to and others not so much. But that again is the beauty of the opinion. We all entitled to them, kind of!

I fear that this iteration of X-Men (not unlike its comic counterpart) will be campy and kitsch, just like the Star Wars prequels. I’m even worried about that a little bit with Wolverine. If it’s anything like the comic book, though, I won’t be interested. Ok, I will, but I won’t admit it.

I agree with Dan on the Star Wars prequels..I didn’t enjoy them and didn’t feel like it made the Star Wars series any better.

You liked the Star Wars prequels? Wait, so do you consider yourself a Star Wars fan? If you answer yes, then you couldn’t possibly have enjoyed the prequels!! Come on, Jar Jar?!?!

I am glad you brought up the Star Wars prequels because that’s the fear I have with these movies. They are going to try and go as far back as they can, leading up to the first X-Men, and in the end, I think the quality will be degraded movie after movie.

I fear the prequels.

While I usually am the guy that says, ‘come on, come out with a new idea,’ I would say that I might be up for this. I am always curious how things begin. That’s why the Star Wars prequels were so good for me, because I wanted to see how it all started! I would say that is also why I am ready to see Star Trek.
