So far it’s been a theme this week at Truth On Cinema that as soon as we show you guys a poster, the trailer for the same film debuts the next day. In following suit with that, yesterday we showed you the gloriously-commanding poster for Johnny Depp’s Public Enemies, and today, thanks to our friends over at First Showing, we have the first full trailer.
I don’t know what your plans are for this summer, but if it doesn’t include this film, then I think there’s something wrong with you. This movie combines the greatness of both Depp and Christian Bale (putting aside the rant) and the grittiness of director Michael Mann (Collateral, Heat). I hope it achieves the same kind of criminal mystique that Road to Perdition did with the 1920′s gangster.
Public Enemies is directed by Michael Mann, of Heat, Ali, Collateral, and Miami Vice previously. The screenplay is based on Bryan Burrough’s book of the same name and was adapted by Ronan Bennett (A Further Gesture). Later, Michael Mann and Ann Biderman (Copycat, Primal Fear) wrote a revised screenplay before shooting. Universal is bringing Public Enemies to theaters everywhere on July 1st this summer.

I like it. Johnny Depp is just flat out cool. Weird sometimes…but cool! Gotta admit…he can play just about any part without copying another movie!
