Another big action movie that I will definitely be checking out this summer is Sony’s The Taking of Pelham 123. Directed by action movie king Tony Scott (of the Ridley Scott family), it’s a remake of the same 1974 movie that starred Walter Matthau, but in this remake, Denzel Washington is a subway officer who is in a cat-and-mouse hijacking game with “bad guy” John Travolta.
You can expect some of the same type of action like you’ve seen in Top Gun, Enemy of the State, Spy Game, and the latest, Deja Vu, with Denzel playing his typical “down-in-the-dump-disgruntled-officer-who-has-to-fight-bad-guys-and-then-discovers-who-he-really-is” role. I am a sucker for Denzel’s action movies and I guess you could call them one of my guilty pleasures.
Sony has just released the first full-length trailer for the film and I gotta tell you, it doesn’t fail to get me excited:

Nice…tense…Scotty likey!
I think these guys make for a nice pair on screen. We’ll see how it all comes together as the future unfolds!
But so far, I like what I see.
Makes me want to go ahead and rent the 1974 version so I can preview it!

Just me or does Travolta look like AJ from the Backstreet Boys?
