Marvel hasn’t released much information on the upcoming Captain America film that’s slated to open in July 2011, but now it seems like we might have an official production start date. Fangoria, via ComingSoon, has just released some teaser information regarding the proposed start of production on The First Avenger: Captain America, which is the official working title as of right now, and we may not have to wait too long.
Joe Johnston, director of The Rocketeer, Jurassic Park III, and the upcoming The Wolfman, speaking from the art department of The First Avenger: Captain America recalls that, “he’s readying for a June start.”
If production is going to start in June we can definitely expect some casting news to start coming out soon. That’s going to be a giant casting carousel that will be the spark of many discussion and round table debates.

Carl, why do you think it died? It may have debuted a while ago, but I don’t think it was given its proper audience back then. I think people are more excited and interested in seeing a comic book superhero come to life on screen than they were when Capt. America first came on screen.
How do you think they will be able to save it Carl?

i really hope you are kidding. there has been only one real attempt at a captain america movie almost 30 years ago and that’s it. besides, it’s not a movie “franchise” it’s an enduring character in comics and one of the absolute most important characters in marvel comics for the past forty years and still is today.
