It’s that time of year again everybody, it’s time for AMC’s Annual Best Picture Showcase. As you all may remember from last year, I had the biggest contestTruth On Cinema has ever seen that awarded one lucky person the chance to sit with me in a theater for an entire Saturday and watch all 5 of the Oscar nominated Best Picture candidates. If you read our Oscars post from earlier this week, you would have noticed that this year, there are 10 candidates.
At first I was worried that the amount of candidates might interfere with the showcase and cause AMC to cancel…but, AMC has once again reminded us of their greatness and has come up with an ingenious way we can watch the 10 Best Picture films. They have decided to split the 10 films into two Saturday’s, February 27th and March 6th. The lineup has not been confirmed as of yet, but here is where YOU come in: AMC wants us to decide (read:vote on) which films will be shown on what day, basically. Avatar (3D) will be shown on the first Saturday (the 27th) and if you go to their site, you can vote on which other four films will accompany the Highest Grossing Film of All-Time, which will then decide which of the remaining 5 will be shown on the 6th.
Before you go any further, head on over to their site and help decide which films will be shown. (I would love if it District 9, Up, The Hurt Locker, and Inglorious Basterds were the first ones)
Unfortunately, due to the economy, my bank account, and the fact that in one year I built a home and had a baby, I won’t be able to hold a contest and/or pay for someone to accompany me. BUT, the reason I am announcing this wonderful event is to invite you to join me! I will be there both Saturday’s enjoying the festivities and I would love it if you could join me. If you can, I have a Truth On Cinema t-shirt that you can have as well as I will buy you any candy you want. (limit one per person because, let’s face it, they’re pretty expensive)
I hope to see you there! You don’t want to miss this, it’s an absolutely amazing experience. You can read both Neil and I’s experiences to get a feel for what it’s like.
