Movie News (10/8/2008): Out doing promotions for the DVD release of The Happening, M. Night Shyamalan sat down to talk with SciFi and amongst many things revealed was that he wants to write a sequel to Unbreakable right now. Saying, "I want to write it right now, but I want to write it for the right reasons, I want a story to pop into my head that is organic and expressive of who I am." Discussion: Does this excite you as much as it does me? I truly think that this could really help out his career, do you agree? What did you think of Unbreakable? Would you see the sequel? source: First Showing

If he will finally return to making movies that are good...then I am all for it. But I have been stung bad by The Happening...I just didnt think very highly of it!

I agree with Scotto..I haven't been that impressed with his latest movies..maybe this one will be good!

I remember Unbreakable so well. I sat down, looked at my friend, and said, "I have no idea what this movie is about." I mean, I knew there was a guy that was immune to injury, but that was it. Then when the intro sequence rolled I thought, "Am I in the wrong theater?"
If I could have that experience every time I walk into a theater and be as pleased as I was with the outcome, I would gladly pay $15 for every movie that I see.
All that to say, I loved Unbreakable. A sequel would not capitalize on that same experience, but I cared enough about the characters to see what comes next.
A point for the creator of the next Superman - you don't necessarily need a huge boss fight, if the boss is bad-a. I had chills at the end of Unbreakable.

That's a great point Ryan! I, too, started watching the movie and thinking to myself, "What is going on here?!"

To this day, I have never seen it all the way through, so before the sequel comes out, I will need to sit down and complete it.

Ryan, I completely agree with you about Unbreakable. I saw it with my dad on rainy afternoon in Montana and didn't even like it very much (too tired, expected something else...whatever), but after watching it again a couple of months later something really clicked.

I now get chills and a lump in my throat every time I watch - such a profound metaphore for the human condition in general...we are our own worst enemies and truly limit ourselves in what we can accomplish.
