Here's why I think that this is interesting... none of the other films have had any other big-name actors, much less as a lead villain. This is definitely a sign to me of trying to go mainstream and capture bigger audiences with blockbuster action movies. The last film was proactive and meaningful to the series and to the state of our world (in my opinion). I hate to lose that by "selling out" for ticket $$.
Ryan, I never saw the newest Rambo, is it worth renting? Not being a huge fan of Rambo, would I enjoy it just as a movie, or does it only appeal to the *fan* of Rambo movies?
Mickey Rourke is the hot name to throw around right now, so, who knows if this will pan out or not.
*stipulation* Rambo is the most gory movie I've ever seen. That being said, it really captures the reality of violence and injustice that is going on in the world. You may remember the post I wrote on my site following my watching Taken that tied into this.
I think that there are parts of it that would be lost on you if you haven't seen the others, but otherwise it pretty well stands alone. Some people would call it gratuitous, I would call it captivating.
the newest rambo was amazing.
this better be a rumor, because that film was a perfect ending to the series. the weinsteins wanted him to make another after it was successful, and he originally told them no. please stallone, stick to your guns here.
Nice pun johnny!
