Movie News (10/14/2008): According to comingsoon and the trades, reports are out that Marvel’s negotiations with Terrence Howard to reprise his role as Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes, Tony Stark/Iron Man’s best friend and future armor-clad hero War Machine, have failed. He has walked away from the Iron Man franchise and will be replaced by none other than Don Cheadle.
Movie News (10/8/2008): Out doing promotions for the DVD release of The Happening, M. Night Shyamalan sat down to talk with SciFi and amongst many things revealed was that he wants to write a sequel to Unbreakable right now.
Movie News (10/8/2008): Apparently Kevin Costner figures that his present movies aren’t doing so well, so why not try and revive some of the older ones that were better…and that’s where we get the news that the Bull Durham sequel has been greenlit with stars Costner, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Robbins all returning to reprise their roles respectively. Kristen Kerr (Dexter) is also being considered to play one of Costner’s love interests in the film.
Movie News (9/30/2008): So, while I reported back in August that Tobey and Sam were coming back for Spider-Man 4, it wasn’t clear yet whether or not Kirsten Dunst was back….well, the news is in, she will be coming back for a fourth Spider Man.
Movie News (9/29/2008): At the Disney Showcase last week, it was revealed that Johnny Depp has been cast as ‘Tonto’ in Disney’s remake of “The Lone Ranger.” When asked about who would play The Lone Ranger himself, supposedly George Clooney himself has expressed interest in the role.
Movie News (9/24/2008): So, it’s OFFICIAL, the I Am Legend prequel is currently in development over at Warner Brothers.
Movie News (9/23/2008): Variety reports that “Wanted” director Timur Bekmambetov will helm a reimagining of the Herman Melville’s 1851 literary classic “Moby Dick” for Universal Pictures. The screenplay will ditch Ishmael’s narration in favour of a “action-adventure revenge story” that allows the filmmakers to depict the white whale’s decimation of other ships prior to its encounter with Ahab’s Pequod.
Movie News (9/18/2008): In news that is purely for humor alone, Sony is reporting that none other than David Hasselhoff will be starring in the sequel to 1997’s Beverly Hills Ninja starring the late Chris Farley. Sadly, this isn’t a joke. The writer of the original movie, Mitch Klebanoff, will be making his directorial debut with Chris Farley’s brother, Kevin Farley lending his hand as co-producer.

Movie News (9/11/2008): In news that I’m sure will cause some controversy, Warner Brothers is reporting that they are re-releasing The Dark Knight in IMAX theaters in January, just in time for the Oscars. With The Dark Knight’s current domestic box office total pushing $513 million, it’s obvious that Warner Brothers wants to shoot for that $600 million mark in order to potentially beat Titanic. This re-release is also timed to tie in with the voting season for the Academy Awards, both to highlight the film during that time to remind voters and to capitalize on any buzz from nominations.
