Movie News (8/25/2008): In some of the weirdest news that I’ve ever heard, The West Wing and Studio 60 writer-creator Aaron Sorkin revealed on his newly-created Facebook page that he’s writing a film about the founders of the popular social networking site. Scott Rudin will produce the film for Sony Pictures.
A movie about Facebook? What’s it going to be like? A 2-hour drama about a couple of Harvard computer geeks who thought it would be cool to connect with college students online? Will there be political and religious banter meshed throughout it all? What do you guys think?

As long as they mix in some kind of super hero… Im in. Maybe Captain Atom and the facebook avengers?
And then, once the movie is released, they’ll bring in Tom from MySpace to appear in the sequel as the arch-nemesis of the Facebook Avengers.
Drew, it sounds like you and I should be writing this movie, not Aaron.
Ok, I love Aaron Sorkin as much as the next guy. Ok, maybe more so.
And the same is true about facebook. So, it would seem a no-brainer. But I also like Mac n Cheese and Microwaves, but the creation of Easy Mac is not one of my favorites. So…
Yeah, I don’t know.
I do know that Damon needs to give me back my copy of Sports Night.
Oh, here’s a real valid point. It’s been a while since we’ve heard Sorkin’s take on things (and Studio 60 was short lived) so whatever form it takes, I’d love to hear his thoughts. Through a story about facebook, youtube, or Time Warner on Demand.
Ryan, I will trade you a season of the Office for your season of Sports Night…if you are willing.
Ryan, since I know both you and I are Sorkin lovers, on his Facebook page, he has this really interesting discussion board where he is answering all kinds of questions about West Wing, Sports Night, etc..
Check it out! Here is the link
Ok, well my link is the same color as the background, so just mouse over next to the words “Check it out!”
This cant be true! I cant imagine how you’d fill 60-120 minutes of a movie. Come on! Are we sure this just isnt a documentary?
And you’d have to call Tom from myspace in on this too. Since they share technology, he’d have to make a least a cameo!
What’s next…TwitterTales?
Dan. Sorry for the delay in response. If you’re barter above is for loan and not trade, then I’m in. The only delay will be waiting to get Sports Night back from the last person I loaned it to.
