New Jack Ryan 5?

Movie Rumors (3/19/08): It looks like “Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi is in negotiations to revive Paramount Pictures’ Jack Ryan franchise. The Tom Clancy-created CIA analyst character appeared in four hit movies for the studio from 1990’s acclaimed “The Hunt for Red October” through to 2002’s “The Sum of All Fears”. The plan is Raimi would develop and direct several films featuring Ryan at a younger, more formative point in his career than previously depicted. One idea is that the studio is considering setting the film in the present, with the action triggered by a global threat. We’ll see what happens…

Hard to top the early films. I thought that the Sum of all Fears was a bust, but I loved the earlier movies!

The Sum of All Fears was the weakest of all the franchise, but without comparison, I did like the movie as it was. I think Ben Affleck is at his best behind the camera like he was in “Gone, Baby, Gone” and “Good Will Hunting.”

I really enjoyed the 1st one with Alec Baldwin and Sean Connery. I bet Alec kicked himself a few times when he was turned down fore next one because he wanted too much money and it became a big hit with Harrison Ford.

I’ll be curious as to who they will get to be the new, younger Jack Ryan! Big shoes to fill!
