Well, here we are, we have reached the end of Truth On Cinema’s Oscar Contest and I will now reveal my Top 5 Movies of All Time and the winner who will join me as we watch all 5 of the Best Picture nominees next Saturday, February 21st.
Dan’s Top 5 Movies of All Time
- Jurassic Park – Seeing this movie literally changed the direction of my career. I was heading towards journalism when I saw this movie, and afterward was so moved by the effects and the emotion behind the dinosaurs that I wanted to be that guy. I wanted to be a 3D designer, or more generally, a computer designer.
- (LOTR) Return of the King – I wrestled with the idea of putting the entire trilogy, but then that wouldn’t have counted as a single movie amongst my 5, so I chose my favorite. I can watch this movie anytime of the day and would consider a day complete if I only sat around and watched this over and over again.
- Saving Private Ryan – There is no other war movie that effects me the way this one does. This is my default pick for anything war-related. I remember how somber I felt when I left the theater, and how I knew that this movie would forever be entrenched in my favorites list.
- October Sky – It doesn’t matter if it comes on TV, if I pop it into my DVD player, if it comes on at a friends house, I will always sit down and watch this film and always come away with tears wiped away. Beautiful and haunting portrayal of a father-son relationship.
- Independence Day – I catch and will catch so much flack for this movie, but anytime my wife asks me what movie I want to watch and I pick my top 3 for her to choose from, ID4 is ALWAYS in the mix.
There you have it, that is my Top 5 Movies of All Time list.
And now it’s time to reveal who the winner is: Neil
- Braveheart
- LOTR Trilogy
