Everyday it seems like there’s another Spider-Man casting rumor, and it usually has something to do with whatever film is hot at the moment and whatever young twentysomething male is corresponding to said film. What helps the situation is if the male in question is relatively unknown and possibly only been in small Disney films that a handful of people have seen. And as soon as they release the “casting rumor” there’s another studio that’s quickly there to deny it. It’s becoming tiresome day in and day out with deciding on whether or not to publish the so-called casting rumors. So, instead of me trying to keep up with the names, I want to know what you think.

Just to get you up-to-date on who has been thrown into the casting carousel so far, here’s the breakdown:

(Reading from L to R) Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief), Josh Hutcherson (Zathura, Bridge to Teribithia), Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Brick, (500) Days of Summer), Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe)

As you can see, they all are around the same age, the same look, and all are relatively off the radar (apart from Joseph Gordon-Levitt), but, will they work? Who do YOU want to see play Spider-Man?

  • apparently if they pick that second kid, it will be about SpiderMan going into Jr. High??

Why is Zac Efron not on this list? They could bring the Spiderman Musical http://spidermanonbroadway.marvel.com/ to the big screen.

Or Robert Pattinson – presumably playing some strange love child of Spider Man and Morbius http://marvel.com/universe/Morbius

That maybe a young picture of him as if you google him now, he looks a lot older and more mature.

Your suggestions are farce and unacceptable. :)

Kevin McHale/Glee – That’s my choice. I’d like to see the next Peter Parker be a little more of a geek. Getting a pretty boy to play Spider-Man is great, but the heart of the character is not the muscles in the suit, it’s the goofy everday guy that is given an amazing gift. Kevin is a goofy looking guy to be honest, but that’s what would make it so interesting. These days they can make anyone look like a movie star. I say start the film with Kevin looking much like he does now on the show Glee, and then buff him up, get him tanned, and cut his hair. That’s my peace.

Matthew, that’s not a bad choice, one that I had never thought of. And hey, if they write in another “emo-walking-down-sidewalk” scene, he can sing!
